Self Defence Academy Terms & Conditions

1. Membership Suspension:

  • We offer the option to temporarily suspend your monthly payments for 1, 2, or 3 months.
  • This allows for flexibility and convenience in managing your membership.

2. Membership Cancellation:

  • To cancel your membership with Self Defence Academy, you must provide a written notice at least 30 days prior to your desired cancellation date. Email notifications are acceptable.
  • Membership cancellation cannot occur before your first direct debit payment.
  • No refunds will be issued for unused credit or unattended classes/training.
  • If you cancel your direct debit without prior notice or before the first payment, a £20 admin fee (payable via bank transfer or cash) will be charged.

3. Rejoining after Cancellation:

  • If you previously canceled your membership with 30 days’ notice and wish to rejoin, you won’t be required to pay the joining fee.
  • Those who didn’t provide the required notice will be charged a £20 admin fee (payable via bank transfer or cash).

4. Membership, Annual Holidays, and Class Cancellations:

  • We do not hold classes on Public/Bank Holidays.
  • We take a two-week annual leave during the Christmas/New Year period and another two weeks during the summer holiday period. Dates may vary and will be communicated through our Facebook page and email newsletter.
  • We do not refund partial membership payments for the following:
    • Classes not attended.
    • Occasional class cancellations due to weather, instructor illness, temporary location closures for maintenance/events, or similar circumstances.
    • Classes suspended during holiday periods.

5. 3/6/12 Month Membership:

  • A 3 Month Membership includes minimum 12 classes, regardless of when you start (whether at the beginning or partway through a month).
  • A 6 Month Membership covers minimum 24 classes.
  • A 12 Month Membership offers minimum 48 classes.
  • Payments for these memberships are non-refundable.

6. Joining Pack:

  • The Joining Pack, which includes groin protection, a gum shield, and a t-shirt, is provided only with the initial purchase of a 3/6/12 Month Membership for new members.
  • Subsequent purchases of a 3/6/12 Month Membership will not include the Joining Pack.
  • T-shirt sizes are available in standard men’s (unisex) sizing: S (ladies 8), M (10-12), L (14), XL (16-18), XXL (20-22).
  • T-shirts and groin protection cannot be exchanged for hygiene reasons.
  • We encourage you to try on the t-shirt upon receiving your pack and before the class begins.

7. Refunds:

  • We do not offer refunds once payments have been made.
  • This applies to all training sessions, weekly classes, seminars, workshops, or any other activities organized by Self Defence Academy, even if the student/member/payer changes their mind, cancels, or is unable to attend.
